Coming to Swift’s Creek with a gastro-pub pedigree that includes head chef roles at Prahran’s Flying Duck and the Terminus in Clifton Hill, owner and chefs Shannon and Tennille Mee of the Albion Hotel have the collaborative culinary skills to produce top-notch quality pub food. And now have the accolades to prove it.
Making the most of eastern Victoria’s reputation for fine food and quality produce, the Mees change the menu each week and the specials every day; plus the chefs are able to source the vast majority of their ingredients locally, maximising freshness and minimising food miles, an achievement for such a remote location.
Since their arrival the Mees have been making investments to improve the pub including renovations to the building and installing a state-of-the-art glycol system so the beer is always cold, creating a new beer garden and imporivments in the kitchen, but were careful not to change the feel of the place.
The Albion has over 400 caps hanging from the ceiling, each with its own story behind it, and the walls are adorned with photos and articles depicting the history of the region.
Situated on the Great Alpine Road, the Albion Hotel really is a must-vist in the high country.
